Zero
I am about to do a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19
The countdown to our moving day is now over. The truck is here. Boxes we spent weeks packing and stacking are flying out the door with incredible speed. It seems like, by lunchtime, we could be stacking plates in different cabinets and trying to figure out where all our stuff will fit in a different place.
Like anything, our time in Flemington has had its highs and lows. But I can say with a whole heart that we’ve loved living here. I’ve loved being the pastor of Flemington UMC. Thank you for receiving us well four years ago, and for journeying with us through an eventful time.
In just a few more days Pastor Chris and Rachel will move into the home where I’m typing this. I pray the pandemic continues to wane and you are all able to welcome them well and keep sharing the good news of Jesus with our neighbors.
This is the last time I will write to you this way. Pastor Chris will resume this newsletter, or, perhaps, something different. This will be his charge to keep then. In this time of a bit of quiet where Dar and Bruce lead soul-stirring worship services here, I pray you will pray and prepare to receive your next pastor well as you received me four years ago.
And so – signing off. Do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Ben
Announcements
Upcoming Family Promise Help Dates – July 4th Weekend
Thanks to John Newton, Walter Maze, and everyone else who helped feed the family in our care with Family Promise this past week. The ministry has changed somewhat, but the goal remains caring for people and families experiencing temporary homelessness. We will be tasked with providing food for another family the first weekend of July. If you would like to purchase, deliver, or donate in another way, please let Walter know.
Upcoming Small Group Study – Unafraid by Adam Hamilton
Some time in the not-too-distant future Bruce is looking forward to leading another great study. This time around, the topic is “Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times.” If you’re feeling residually unsettled after the events of the last year or two, you are not alone. Come, join, and see how God leads us through frightening times.
