Hey everyone,
I hope you are all doing well today as we get closer to Christmas and the celebration of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
As someone who loves sweets (probably too much), one of my favorite parts of the holiday season is enjoying good food, particularly cookies. For this reason, I’m excited to tell you about a Cookie Exchange that’ll be happening at our church.
On Sunday, December 19th, we will have a cookie exchange in Fellowship Hall after service. How this event will work is that after service, people will be free to create a tray of cookies that they can then take home with them to enjoy (for health and safety reasons, we will not be eating in Fellowship Hall). There will also be servers wearing gloves and using tongs to serve any cookies you’d like.
However, to make this event as fun as it can be, we need some bakers who are willing to share their best cookies with us! If you are interested in baking cookies (or buying and bringing cookies) for this event, please email Beth or Grace to let them know what recipe you will be preparing and how many cookies you’re planning to prepare (we’re asking for a minimum of 6 dozen). Their emails are not-in-oz@embarqmail.com and gespeut23@yahoo.com.
In addition, all extra cookies will be used to create trays that will be sent to our Police and Fire Departments and the Flemington Area Food Pantry—looking forward to this fun and festive event.
Peace,
Pastor Chris
Thank You to All of Our Volunteers
This past Sunday, our church was able to host the Whitehouse Wind Symphony as well as pass out hundreds of cups of free hot chocolate to those at the Main Street Holiday parade. A huge thank you to everyone who attended or volunteered to make these events a success!
Helping Those Displaced by Fire
Last Sunday, our church held a special offering for families in our local area who were recently displaced due to a fire. Because of your generosity, our church raised over 1,900 dollars. Way to make a difference!
Christmas Eve Service
This year’s Candle Light Christmas Eve service will be at 7:30 pm. We’re looking forward to celebrating the birth of our Savior with you! If you are interested in helping out in the service in any way, please send an email to Gretchen at flemingtonumc@yahoo.com.
New Worship Leaders for 2022
Our church is looking for new worship leaders who can be part of our 2022 rotation. If you are interested in helping lead worship (by sharing announcements, greeting the congregation, and reading scripture), please email our office at flemingtonumc@yahoo.com or personally connect with our Lay Leader Bruce LaPenta or Pastor Chris.
Pastor Chris’ Vacation
Pastor Chris will be on vacation from Monday, December 27th, to January 3rd.
Redemption of Scrooge
Our Adult Sunday School and Tuesday small group are currently going through an Advent book study on The Redemption of Scrooge. In this book, author Matthew Rawle explores what Scrooge’s story tells us about God’s redeeming love. Adult Sunday School meets on Sundays at 9:00 am in the A-Wing conference room, and the Tuesday small group meets on Tuesdays at 1 pm in the same location. If you are interested in learning more or want to join either group, you can contact Bruce LaPenta at blapenta@embarqmail.com or Lynn Becker at lynnsnowbecker@gmail.com.
