Just after 10:30PM this past Monday a heavy-duty wrecker hauling a large trailer crashed into Galasso’s Pizzeria in Frenchtown. A massive explosion followed. Fire spread to the neighboring Frenchtown Cafe and adjacent apartments, causing confusion and panic in the dark.
It’s hard to shine light for the families affected by the fire. Where can hope be found? My friend Peter Mantell is the pastor of the Frenchtown United Methodist Church and he has been leading an effort to help these people get back on their feet. The Gofundme he started yesterday is only a few dollars away from raising $10,000. You can contribute here if you’d like to help.
As we continue to listen to Jesus declare “I AM the bread of life,” let’s remember the way we have been fed which has made us hungry for justice. Let us settle for nothing less than the presence and joy of the Lord with us in our celebrations and in the ashes and disappointments. We follow a God of resurrection capable of bringing new life from any situation.
Keep the Faith,
Pastor Ben
