There is a particular evil we have seen in Dachau, Charleston, Paris, Syria, Pittsburgh, and too many other places, an evil that sees difference in religious practice or race as grounds for violence. This evil rose again in New Zealand where 49 Muslims were murdered while at prayer.
Where is God in these times? What would Jesus have us do? If we as disciples of Jesus Christ believe that God’s grace is truly available to all people then this loss of life will break our hearts and bring us to prayer with our Muslim brothers and sisters.
Please be in prayer today and every day that we might move closer to the peaceable reign of Christ. Pray for the grieving. Pray for the attacker. Pray for those drawn to the attention these violent events draw.
We are invited to pray, mourn, and remember with our Muslim neighbors here in Flemington on Saturday night (March 16) at 7:30pm at 1 East Main Street. Please come in solidarity to witness to the truth that this violence is counter to God’s vision of this world.
